Javier Zanetti’s career has seen him performing as an Inter Milan player for 19 seasons but it’s about to reach its end as the Argentinean defender stated that this will be his last season playing before hanging up his boots and retiring from professional competitive football.
5 league trophies, 4 Italian Cups and 1 Champions League are some of the trophies which he has lifted during his time in Italy wearing the Inter Milan jersey.
Walter Mazzari will have to find a player than can succeed the legacy and space left behind by Javier Zanetti. The veteran defender was offered a place in the management staff team of Inter Milan but he still remains unclear about his near future.
The Indonesian businessman and owner of Inter Milan, Erick Thohir has already revealed that he has ambitions of placing the Italian club into one of the best clubs not only in Italy but in Europe and will give Walter Mazzari a substantial transfer budget for him to sign new arrivals.
“We will have a good transfer campaign and we will sign two great players,” Thohir told reporters.
“I would like Hamsik at Inter, but I also like some of the other names that have been mentioned in the press. They could all add something to Inter Milan. I will not confirm anything until a deal is completed. The objective is to build a balanced team that is able to compete and can do well.”
Napoli’s Marek Hamsik and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho are some of the names which have been linked with Inter Milan as potential arrivals to the club during the summer transfer window.
Thohir helped the club with the signing of Nemanja Vidic from Manchester United and he has promised that there still are more things to come for Inter Milan.
