The manager of the Netherlands national football team, Louis van Gaal, has said that he wants to manage a Premier League team.

Premier League is the only major league which Gaal hasn’t won so far as a manager. He has already won La Liga with Barcelona, Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and Eredivisie with Ajax Amsterdam.

Talking to the reporters a couple of days back, Gaal made it clear that he would love to be the manager of a Premier League team if the right opportunity comes his way.

Gaal said, “I have won top flight titles in Germany and Spain. Now, I think England is the third place to do it and that’s the reason why I want to manage one of the Premier League teams.”

“The atmosphere happens to be amazing in the Premier League. It’s completely different from any other league in the world.”

Gaal is considered as one of the best managers in Europe. Last year, he had been appointed as the manager of the Dutch team at a very difficult time. Netherlands had crashed out early from Euro 2012 and things were looking in tatters for them.

But, Gaal has changed the fortunes of the team completely. Under his guidance, Netherlands has performed fantastically well in the world cup qualifying matches. They are currently at the top of the Group D points table with 18 points in 6 matches. Hungary which is at no. 2 has 7 points less than the Dutch team.

A few days back, Gaal appointed the Manchester United superstar Robin van Persie as the new captain of the Dutch team.

When asked about that move, Gaal said, “You want a confident player leading the side and Robin is full of confidence at the moment. He is in the form of his life and I thought he was the right man to be given this responsibility.”
