Chelsea have reached an agreement with Dutch giant over the transfer of mercurial winger, Hakim Ziyech. The Blues made an effort to sign the player from Ajax during the winter transfer window, but Ajax rejected their bid.

Negotiations continued after the closure of the winter window and an agreement was reached on Wednesday, with both clubs now taking to their official websites to confirm that the Moroccan will move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Morrocan has scored 79 goals since making his debut in Dutch football with Heerenveen. The deal is worth an initial €40m but can rise to €44m through a number of variables and add-ons.

Chelsea had the perfect chance to scout Ziyech earlier in the season when the two sides met in the Champions League. During the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, he finished with three assists and completely dominated the game, and Chelsea were obviously impressed.

Ziyech will represent the first arrival in Stamford bridge since their transfer ban was halved by Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS, late last year. The Moroccan is also the first player to arrive Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard.

The addition of Ziyech will give Lampard more attacking options as the player is quite comfortable anywhere in the front three and he can also operate in center midfield.

Frank Lampard has also confirmed that the addition of Hakim Ziyech will not be the end of Willian with the club, some reports have suggested that the acquisition of the Moroccan international is preparation for the imminent departure of the Brazilian winger.

Willian’s contract will run out at the end of the season, and the 30 year old has not agreed fresh term with the club, Chelsea have a custom of not giving more than a year contract to players above 30, they have also offered the player a year deal, but the player is holding out for a longer term. Frank Lampard is confident that the club will reach a compromise with the player.
